Jakarta Limits Audience Capacity at Music Concerts to 70 Percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office has capped the audience capacity at music concerts to 70 percent for ensuring security and safety of visitors.

"This provision can be a reference for organizers to present a safe and conducive concert," stated Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office Andhika Permata on Saturday.

The regulation of the 70-percent maximum capacity for music concert audiences is contained in Decree No e-1963 / PW.01.02 of 2022 on the public activities restrictions (PPKM) Level 1 against COVID-19 in the tourism business sector.

In addition to the capacity, the Jakarta provincial government limits the music concert hours from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. local time.

Organizers are also required to complete a letter of recommendation from the COVID-19 Task Force, a Temporary Performance Registration Mark (TDPT), as well as crowd permits from the police.

Moreover, the COVID-19 tracking app PeduliLindungi should be used, so that only visitors and staff with green color are allowed to enter.

"The organizers must make visitor arrangements according to the number of visitors," Permata affirmed.

His side has urged organizers to arrange the flow of visitors neatly, starting from the arrival to the exit; meeting and activity places, such as the placement of tables, chairs, aisles, and evacuation routes; and the implementation of health protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

In addition, music concert organizers are obligated to maintain security, comfort, and safety of visitors as well as provide a digital payment system for transactions and ticket registration processes.

The process to issue music concert permits has been tightened following the case of a recent music festival where the organizer had sold tickets beyond capacity.

As a result, several members of the audience had fainted on the first day of the music festival on October 28, 2022, at Istora Senayan.
