TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) said the series of activities of the Indonesian G20 Presidency in Bali boosted economic growth on the island of the gods in the third quarter of 2022. Statistics Indonesia or BPS reported that the regional economy grew 8.09% year on year (yoy).
“The high realization of Bali's economic growth cannot be separated from preparations of public activities, such as G20 Summit and G20 side events,” said BI’s head for Bali representative office, Trisno Nugroho, Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
BPS stated that Bali's economy in the third quarter of this year jumped significantly compared to the previous quarter at 3.05% (yoy). On the quartal-to-quartal basis, the growth was recorded at 0.6%.
If the growth in the first to third quarters of 2022 is accumulated, the regional economy in January-September 2022 grew by 4.19%.
“Other than supported by various activities ahead of the G20 Presidency, Bali's economic growth is also driven by national and international meetings and rising tourism activities,” said Trisno.
The majority of Bali's economic growth in the third quarter came from increased performance in tourism-related business fields, namely transportation, provision of accommodation and food and drink, as well as wholesale and retail trade, following the continued easing of public mobility and travel restrictions.
