Indonesian Man Robs Tokyo Convenience Store; Threatens Employee with Spray Can, Lighter

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo said it would follow up on a robbery case at a Japanese convenience store involving an Indonesian citizen last week. An Embassy official has confirmed that the Indonesian man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
"We will contact the Japanese police to get more information first,” Ali Sucipto, protocol and consular functions coordinator at the Tokyo Embassy, said on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Tokyo Metro Police arrested Indonesian man Regi Charles Farrar (25) on Friday last week for robbing a convenience store in the Bunkyo Ward.
Regi is charged with is of breaking into a convenience store, and threatening a female employee with deodorant spray cans and a lighter. Regi then stole 35,000 yen or around Rp3.6 million from the register.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Regi was found in the neighboring Taito Ward after authorities traced his escape route from security camera footage.
Regi has admitted to the charges.
