TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is proud of the country which is praised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Kristalina Georgieva as it is deemed successful in maintaining economic stability in the midst of the global crisis.
“Last week, the IMF managing director said that Indonesia is a bright spot amid the gloom of the world economy. It's not us who state that,” said the President when opening the 37th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
He said he was pleased to hear the praise when many countries are lining up to get funding assistance from the IMF. The praise, he opined, will boost global trust in Indonesia.
He reiterated that at least 16 nations have become ‘patients’ of the IMF and 28 other nations are queuing up to get funding assistance from the IMF. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s economic growth increased by 5.44 percent, he informed.
“Once again, we must be grateful because our economic growth is still at 5.44 percent. And I still believe in this third quarter [of 2022], the economy is still growing above 5 or above 5.4 percent,” he remarked.
In addition to the economic growth, President Jokowi said the country’s inflation rate is also under control.
