TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) is currently investigating the background of "Bjorka" who reportedly hacked the data of several government websites, Head of the agency  Hinsa Siburian has informed.

The agency was still investigating the alleged attack since it was conducted in the digital space, he said at the BSSN Office, Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.

"It is not like searching physically," he added.

The agency is coordinating with the related authorities, specifically the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim), to trace “Bjorka’s” background using digital forensics, he said.

The agency is also working with the owners of the data suspected of being hacked to conduct a system evaluation. Each ministry and institution is responsible for electronic system security, he added.

This is because half of them feel they are not losing any data or they are not aware of it, he explained.

In addition, the agency is providing an IT Security Assessment (ITSA) service to identify vulnerabilities in information system-based public services provided by state providers.

In relation to the issue of national data leak by a hacker that emerged some time ago, Siburian urged people to remain calm in responding to hacker attacks in cyberspace.

In general, the national vital information infrastructure has remained strong to this day and the cyberattack launched by “Bjorka” is still in the low-intensity classification.

People must also remain alert, he said. While the attack was of low intensity, it is expected that the intensity will not be allowed to rise, he remarked.

Earlier, a hacker with the username “Bjorka” had claimed to have hacked presidential data and obtained presidential letters and top-secret documents from the intelligence agency.

The claim was later circulated on a Twitter account and was a trending topic on social media as of Saturday morning.
