TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After visiting Grab Indonesia's office, members of Driver Online Indonesia (DRONE) came to Gojek's office to hold a demonstration today, September 12. DRONE's PR head Abah Ajat said that one of their demands is for Gojek to expel Blue Bird from the app.
According to Ajat, GoCar drivers often have to split orders with the traditional cab company. "We are demanding the app developer, Gojek, to please separate orders for Blue Bird and GoCar. Because Blue Bird already has its own app," he said in front of Gojek's office in Blok M, South Jakarta.
Additionally, he said that there is discrimination between GoCar and Blue Bird drivers. When Blue Bird drivers ignore passenger orders, they are not given a sanction. On the contrary, GoCar drivers' performance will decline if they do so. "That's the gap," Ajat said.
Apih Hedy, chairman of the Community of Bogor Raya (Kobra), shares his sentiment. Apih said that the collaboration between Gojek and Blue Bird has actually brought down GoCar drivers.
"It is as if Gojek is tackling their own GoCar drivers' accounts, making passengers run to Blue Bird. This really hurts us," he said.
Apih added that Gojek should know the struggle of GoCar drivers who have been with the company from the start. "Their growth was because we helped them grow as online drivers," Apih remarked.
Other demands made by the GoCar and GrabCar drivers include returning the ride-sharing system that allowed drivers to pick orders, tariff adjustments with regards to the fuel price hike, cutting off the 20-percent discount, and erasing the additional costs on reduced order quantity by customer or online driver partners.
The drivers are also demanding a revision to the partnership agreement and for the companies to cease accepting new partners on the Gojek and Grab applications in order to maintain stability between passengers and online driver partners.
