TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dozens of thousands of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines kept under the Bekasi Regency government will reportedly expire in early August this year, which is just days ahead. This is confirmed by the head of the Bekasi regional health department Bayu Biharussyfa.
“In our warehouse at our pharmacy facility, there are 21,834 doses of Sinovac vaccines that will be expired by August 1, 2022,” said Bayu on July 27, Antaranews reported. The large vaccine supply will prove to be useless once it enters the expiration date.
According to Bayu, the local health agency has communicated this issue with the West Java Province health agency, which will pick up the soon-to-be expired vaccine vials.
“The expired vaccines have been logged and we are waiting for them to be picked up by Bio Farma through the West Java Province health agency,” he added.
Apart from the Sinovac supply, the agency also noted another brand that is entering its expiration date, which is the Covovax vaccine which can only be used until July 31, Sunday. “The supply of this one (Covovax) is relatively higher with 36,820 doses,” he explained.
Moreover, there are 3,330 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine supply that will be expired past August 12, Friday.
