TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi was scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. He landed in Beijing on Monday evening at 21:37 local time after taking a 6-hour and 40-minute flight using Garuda Indonesia GIA-1 aircraft.
The President and First Lady Iriana were welcomed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wu Jiang Hao, Indonesian Ambassador to Beijing Djauhari Oratmangun and his wife, and Indonesian Defense Attache in Beijing First Marshall Bayu Hendra Permana and his wife.
Upon arrival, the entourage headed to Diaoyutai State Guesthouse for the night. There Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi welcomed the President’s entourage.
The official visit to Beijing is part of a series of East Asia visits. After China, the state head will depart for Japan and South Korea.
“The three countries are ASEAN crucial partners and important in the context of the G20,” said Retno in a statement on Monday, July 25, 2022.
She explained that Jokowi would meet with the leaders of the three countries to discuss a number of issues. “The issues include cooperation on trade, investment, health, infrastructure, fisheries, up to regional and global issues,” said Retno.
