Jokowi, Indian PM Narendra Modi Discuss Strengthening Ties on Food Sector

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed efforts to strengthen cooperation in the food sector at a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany, Monday, June 27, 2022.
“On cooperation related to food trade between the two countries, I will ask the Indonesian Trade Minister to immediately communicate with the Indian Trade Minister,” said the President in a press release Monday, June 27, 2022.
On the war in Ukraine, President Jokowi has again called for an end to war. “I am glad that Indonesia and India have the same position, including calling for a peaceful settlement,” he added.
During the bilateral meeting, the President also appreciated India's support for the G20 Presidency in Indonesia. Indonesia will also back the G20 Presidency in India next year.
The two leaders arrived at the 48th G7 Summit in Schloss Elmau, Bavarian Alps, Germany, after a 30-minute flight from Munich boarding a Sikorsky CH53 military helicopter.
In a written statement from the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Jokowi would attend a series of G7 summits and hold bilateral meetings with a number of state leaders, including the German Chancellor, French President, Indian Prime Minister, Senegalese President, and Canadian Prime Minister.
Officials accompanying President Jokowi in the bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi were the Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi and the Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arif Havas Oegroseno.
