TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration Office on Wednesday deported MT, a Japanese fugitive is accused of defrauding his country's Covid-19 relief fund scheme. Immigration also said that he is barred to enter Indonesia in the future.
The coordinator of detention and deportation of the Immigration Directorate General, Douglas Simamora, said MT is charged with violating Article 75 of Law No.6/2011 for allegedly endangering security and public order and failure to respect and obey the laws and regulations.
"The person was deported because he did not have a residence permit. His nationality passport has been revoked by the Japanese government" said Douglas in a statement on June 22.
MT is known to have entered Indonesia in 2020 with a limited stay visa for investors. The last residence permit that MT has is a KITAS issued by the Immigration Office Class I Special TPI South Jakarta on April 19, 2021, and valid until June 17, 2023.
Douglas said that by returning MT to his country, he was immediately put on the deterrence list, and automatically could not enter Indonesian territory for a certain period of time. "The person concerned will be put on the deterrence list," he said.
MT was repatriated using Japan Airlines JL720 which departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Narita Japan at 6:35 WIB.
