TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Jaya Police Chief Fadil Imran reminded city residents to immediately get the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or a vaccine booster. as positive cases are rising again recently. He also asked the public not to take off guards for thinking that the pandemic is slowing down.
“We still need to improve the coverage [of booster vaccination]. If I'm not mistaken, it is at 46 percent in Jakarta,” said Fadli when meeting at the Metro Jaya Police HQ, South Jakarta, on Monday, June 13, 2022.
The public, he added, should immediately register themselves for the additional vaccine dose just in case future policies require booster vaccination to enter crowded places.
Fadli underlined that people must stay vigilant against the virus by protecting themselves and others. “Because of the euphoria that COVID-19 cases are declining, people are starting to forget and neglect [the health protocols],” he said.
On Sunday, June 12, Jakarta recorded 322 new cases. The figure increased to 348 on Monday, June 13. The surge in positive cases occurred as the government decided to relax COVID-19 restrictions, such as allowing people to take off masks in public open places.
