TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -A 70-year-old man who went missing in the forest of Morotai Island, North Maluku Province, on Saturday had been found alive on Sunday afternoon, stated a rescue worker from the local rescue team.
Ridwan Beoleu was found alive about two kilometers away from where he chopped down a tree on Saturday morning, Head of the Search and Rescue Agency-Ternate Office's Operational Division Bram Madya said.
Beoleu, resident of Sabati Tua Village, went to the forest along with his friend at about 8 a.m., and planned to get home at 2 p.m. He, however, was left behind on the way home, Madya said.
As a result, he went astray. His friend then decided to ask local residents for help to search for Beoleu, he said, adding that they reported the missing elderly man to the search and rescue agency.
To follow up on the request, several rescue workers were deployed, but they then stopped the search efforts after knowing that Beoleu had been found alive, Madya added.
