TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police Traffic Corps decided to extend one-way and odd-even traffic policies on KM 47 of Cikampek toll road until KM 414 of Kalungkung toll today, April 29, during the Eid homecoming or mudik season.
Head of the corps’ operation unit Sr. Comr. Eddy Djunaedi said it was decided due to the increasing volume of vehicles and was aimed at reducing the traffic density.
“Based on conditions in the field from midnight until 02:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), there is still a large flow of vehicles from Jakarta toll road heading east,” said Eddy in a written statement, Friday, April 29.
He added that the operating hours of the two traffic policies depend on the situation, and that the Traffic Corps would continue to update the information. “The police decided to extend the one-way traffic system until further notice.”
As a result of this decision, Eddy apologized to the public, especially road users heading to Jakarta. However, he encouraged the public to stay obedient to traffic rules and regulations.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and we continue to urge the public to remain orderly on the roads and to take advantage of existing arterial and alternative routes. We hope you arrive safely at your destination,” he said.
