Alfamart Robbery Goes Viral; Employees Taken Hostage

20 April 2022 10:55 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of amateur video showing the robbery of an Alfamart convenience store in Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency had gone viral. The robbery took place early Wednesday morning, with several Alfamart Jatake employees taken hostage by the robbers.

The videos show people crowding in front of the minimarket, and several gunshots could be heard. It is assumed that those shots were fired by the police to warn the robbers.

The videos also showed a police officer in a blue T-shirt brandishing a gun, prompting a number of people to fall to the ground.

In other parts of the video, policemen in uniforms arrived on location and charged into the convenience store.

Three Alfamart employees were taken hostage by the robbers. In the CCTV footage that circulated, more than two robbers could be seen holding the employees hostage.

So far, the police have not provided an official statement about the robbery. Tempo contacted the Pagedangan Police's head of detective and criminal unit, First Insp. Hambali, but there is no response yet.
