Public Trust in DPR Nosedives after Legislator Caught Watching Porn in Meeting

14 April 2022 12:04 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaPolitical expert and Executive Director of Parameter Politik Indonesia, Adi Prayitno, assessed that public trust has eroded even further in the House of Representatives (DPR) after a legislator was caught watching porn during a meeting.

“This kind of case makes the public even more fed up with the DPR. Moreover, in a survey on public trust in DPR as a state institution has nosedived for a long time,” said Adi to Tempo, Thursday, April 14.

Political elite should set an example and be a role model for the community, Adi opined. The PDIP politician HM who was filmed with porn on phone should also have good morality.

Since the ruling party claimed that his member was being framed, Adi underlined that PDIP must prove it. “If he was being framed, the actor who framed him should be legally prosecuted,” he said.

The video of HM watching pornographic content from his mobile device during a meeting went viral on social media. The act was criticized by various parties.

Meanwhile, the PDIP Secretary Bambang Wuryanto shielded HM, claiming it was an entrapment. Bambang explained that HM received a WhatsApp message and clicked it which turned out to be a pornographic video.
