Erick Thohir Hopes Telkom Will Become Backbone for Digital Economy

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir in his Instagram post on Thursday expressed his hopes to see Indonesian telecommunication firm TelkomGroup collaborate to become the country’s backbone in the digital economy.
“TelkomGroup should be prepared to be a backbone for Indonesia’s digital economy,” said the minister on April 7, Antaranews reported.
He also said that the company will open job opportunities for the millennial generation and other “agents of change for Indonesia’s SOEs” that would prove to the world that Indonesia can establish its own ecosystem.
“An Indonesian ecosystem,” he wrote.
He has been quoted to say that the country is facing new challenges that forces the country to develop its own map and ecosystem, which in turn will help Indonesians remain competitive and independent. Erick Thohir had previously stated that technological advancements are inevitable and that the country must ensure that its own ecosystem will emerge at the top.
