TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said on Friday, March 25, 2022, that he was disturbed by rampant import products labeled as local. Jokowi instructed the Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to monitor and crackdown on the issue as one of the steps to increase the use of domestically made goods.
"And I am closely monitoring that. I ask the Attorney General not to let imported goods labeled as domestic products," said the President in the event titled Aksi Afirmasi Bangga Buatan Indonesia in Bali on Friday, March 25, 2022.
Jokowi discovered such practices in a number of marketplaces. "There are aggregators. Don't think we don't know about it. I've warned this twice," Jokowi underlined.
The President also asked the Trade Ministry and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise to oversee the circulation of imported goods purchased by ministries/agencies and local governments.
Jokowi reiterated that ministries, state agencies, and local governments should use existing e-catalogs and local catalogs.
