TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The annual general meeting of shareholders (AGM) of state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) approved a dividend payout of Rp2.72 trillion. The amount is equivalent to 25 percent of the company's net profit in the 2021 financial year.
The remaining net profit of 75 percent, worth Rp8.17 trillion, will be used as retained earnings for the purpose of BNI's sustainable business development ahead.
"This year's dividend value is 3.3 times higher than 2020's Rp820.1 billion. The value of dividends per share is also up from last year's Rp44 to Rp146," BNI president director Royke Tumilaar said in a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Taking into account the government's share ownership of 60%, BNI will pay Rp1.63 trillion in dividends to the State General Treasury account. The remaining 40 percent of public shares, worth Rp1.09 trillion, will be paid to shareholders according to their portion of ownerships.
"With the decision of the shareholders, we hope BNI will continue to practice good corporate governance and performances, provide the best public services, as well as become a driver in encouraging Indonesia's economic growth," Royke said.
