TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The pilot project of a warm-up vacation initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for foreign travelers was launched in Bali. The ministry’s deputy for marketing Nia Niscaya said the province was chosen due to high COVID-19 vaccination coverage.
“The first-dose vaccination target has reached 114.62 percent and the second-dose vaccination at 102.40 percent,” said Nia in a virtual press conference on Monday, Feb. 7.
As for the booster vaccination, Nia added that its coverage was only recorded at 8.38 percent. The pilot project was claimed to be carried out carefully by complying with the predetermined health protocols accompanied by strict supervision by the authorities.
“We are trying to keep Indonesian destinations, especially Bali, as tourists’ inspiration. So when the situation allows, we will be ready and Indonesia remains the top of mind for foreign tourists,” said Nia.
To date, five hotels have been prepared to accommodate tourists in the warm-up vacation packages via a travel bubble scheme, viz. The Westin Nusa Dua, Grand Hyatt, Royal Tulip Springhill Jimbaran, Griya Santrian Sanur, and Viceroy Bali Ubud. The warm-up vacation package offers international tourists to enjoy a mandatory quarantine and recreation in a hotel before exploring Bali.
The policies being implemented by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will be evaluated every week along with relevant ministries or agencies given the rising spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
