TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said the government barred tourist destinations from holding New Year celebrations through a circular on business and tourist sites activities during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year celebrations.
“All business places or tourist destinations are prohibited from holding New Year celebratory events in closed areas (indoor) or open areas (outdoors), including parades, firecrackers, and fireworks parties,” said Sandiaga in a virtual press conference Monday, December 6.
Restaurants, cafes, bars, and the like are allowed to operate until 9 p.m. local time with a maximum capacity of 50 percent. The time for dine-in is also limited to no longer than 60 minutes.
Night entertainment venues may operate until 12 a.m. local time with a maximum capacity of 25 percent and a maximum dine-in time of 60 minutes. Meanwhile, those serving delivery and take-away services are permitted to open for 24 hours.
The number of visitors of tourist attractions, recreational parks, and other amusement parks in green zone areas is also limited to 50 percent, while in yellow zone areas to 25 percent. The management must also apply a reservation system and refer to the guidelines set by the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry and the Health Ministry.
Tourist attractions, public parks, and other public areas that do not have a management and potentially attract crowds are suggested to be closed or the number of visitors is limited to a maximum of 25 percent under the local government’s supervision.
Additionally, cinemas can operate until 9 p.m. local time with a maximum capacity of 50 percent.
Sandiaga Uno hoped that regional heads, heads of tourism association, tourism business actors, and heads of cinema association would together support and carry out supervision and control of the policies, simultaneously.
