TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers in Kuala Lumpur received vaccination. The 219 migrant workers were vaccinated in Goodwood Park, on Tuesday, September 21.

The free vaccine rollout was organized by Migrant Care, the Malaysian Ministry of Health, UNHCR, the Red Crescent, workers' agencies from the Malaysian Human Resources National Organization (Pusma), and the Indonesian worker community in Malaysia, Serantau.

In addition to Indonesian workers, both documented and undocumented, the vaccination was also attended by migrant workers from the Philippines and Rohingya refugees in Malaysia.

The chairman of Migrant Care Malaysia, Alex Ong, said that the vaccination was held so that all migrant workers in the Klang Valley area do not contract Covid-19.

He said that workers who do not have documents will be assisted by the Red Cross or Red Crescent so that their vaccination status can be reported to the Ministry of Health through the MySejahtera application. The vaccine rollout for migrant workers, he said, will be continued to all areas in the Klang Valley.

Ong hopes that employers, agents and embassies allow migrant workers to take the Covid-19 vaccination.
