TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three bodies of the crewmen aboard the Rimbun Air cargo flight that went missing at the Sugapa District in Papua were successfully evacuated on Wednesday at 07:37 local times.

Papua Police spokesperson Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal on Thursday said the missing commercial aircraft was discovered by the search and rescue team and local residents of Sugapa District.

The flight was operated by three crews consisting of the plane’s pilot (Mirza), copilot (Fajar), and flight technician (Iswahyudi) who were found dead inside the plane's fuselage.

“As they arrived at the location around 13:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), the team discovered three plane crew members dead,” he wrote in a statement on Thursday.

The evacuation process, he recalled, was hampered by heavy rain and dense fog which at one time forced the evacuation team to abort the mission and continue at midnight after the rain settled. The three bodies will be transported to Timika District and transported back to their hometowns.

The Rimbun Air flight black box along with its beacon were rescued.
