The Indonesian retail store Al-Barokah Mart (Alba Mart) in Gimhae, South Korea officially opened on July 10, 2021.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian retail store Al-Barokah Mart (Alba Mart) in Gimhae, South Korea officially opened on July 10, 2021. The grand launching of Alba Mart was carried out by the Deputy Head of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, Zelda Wulan Kartika with ribbon cutting witnessed by Amir and Business Entity Management Owned by the Al-Barokah Mosque (BUMM), Gimhae and the Head of the Busan Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC).

The opening of the Alba Mart store is a follow-up to the inauguration of the BUMM Al-Barokah by the Indonesian Ambassador to Seoul, Umar Hadi on April 24. "The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul is proud of the opening of Alba Mart. We hope that Alba Mart can open the door for Indonesian products to be more aggressively entering the South Korean market," said Deputy Head of Indonesian Representative Zelda Wulan Kartika. Zelda Wulan Kartika also advised Alba Mart to always develop innovations including online business so that quality and prices can be more competitive.

Alba Mart is expected to be the driving force for the emergence of other Indonesian retail stores in various regions in South Korea. With professional management, this retail store will greatly assist Indonesian MSMEs in expanding their product sales network in the South Korean market. The inauguration of Alba Mart marks the start of the operation of the retail store on July 10, 2021. The initial capital of Alba Mart is a joint venture of a number of elements of the Indonesian community in Gimhae and its surroundings which continues to grow until it can finally operate today.

To date, in South Korea, there are 57 Indonesian mosques that were established and managed by Indonesian citizens, including the Al Barokah Mosque in Gimhae. The number of Indonesian people in the Gimhae area and its surroundings is approximately 1,500 people. It is planned that similar retail stores will be established in other cities as well as prospering the mosques and helping the mosques to become independent.
