Over 100 Children in Jakarta Infected with Covid-19 Delta Variant

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration’s latest data shows that the new Covid-19 variant classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as variants of concern has infected children.
The official document states that there have been 128 cases of the new Covid strain found across the capital city. The delta variant dominated 87 percent of the total finding of the new variants identified in Jakarta.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan presented the data in the coordination meeting of the emergency PPKM led by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on June 29.
From the total of 128 new variant cases, 71 of them are pepole aged 19-59 years; 55 cases came from the 0-18 age group; 29 cases from 0-5 age group; 26 cases from the 6-18 age group, and 2 cases were from the elderly.
The total case comprises 11 Alpha variants (B.117), 5 Beta variants (B.1.351), 111 Delta variants (B.1617.2), and 1 Kappa variant (B.1617.1).
The Jakarta Health Agency Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, reminded people to stay alert and always follow strict health protocol.
