TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fourteen thousand members of the Jakarta Metro Police have undergone Covid-19 vaccination. Vaccination is prioritized for officers working on-field, having the highest risk of being exposed to Covid-19.
The vaccination target for Jakarta Police members is 29,000 officers. "So far, almost 50 percent of the vaccination program has been completed," Jakarta Metro Police head of Health Medicine, Sr. Comr. Didiet Setioboedi, said at his office in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 6.
Didiet said that officers who had received the vaccine shots are members of the Babinkamtibmas (Bhayangkara Force for Public Security and Order) unit, the Traffic Police, and detectives/investigators. He hopes that vaccines can shield officers against Covid-19.
"We are targeting for the first stage of vaccination to be completed in about a month," Didiet said.
In addition to vaccines, Didiet said that the officers are given supplements for immunity. He called on all officers to keep following health protocols even though they have been vaccinated.
The Covid-19 vaccination for police officers has been carried out since early March. This round of vaccination program also covers athletes, State Civil Servants, media crews, and elderly citizens who are at high risk of being exposed to Covid-19.
