Sail Tidore 2021 Aims to Attract Tourists from 100 Nations

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is set to host the international sailing event touted as the 'Sail Tidore 2021' which will start on April 9 and end in the Tidore Islands in North Maluku on September 23. The event is expected to attract tourists from 100 countries.
Yachts from Spain and Portugal are scheduled to stop by Tidore amidst their global sailing adventure, which is also to commemorate the Magelhaens expedition 500 years ago.
“This is an international scale program that must be well-prepared,” committee secretary Suhanto wrote in an official statement on March 23.
The event will be launched on April 9, 2021, at the Tourism Ministry headquarters in Jakarta. From then until June, there will be a series of events dubbed the 'Road to Sail Tidore 2021'.
The peak of the event will be held on September 20-26, which will see a number of events including the Tidore Festival, Legu Gam Ternate, and Jailolo bay Festival. Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi hoped that Sail Tidore 2021 would be a stepping stone to accelerate the economic growth of North Maluku that is slated to be a top national and international tourism site.
