TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The number of Covid-19 cases in Yogyakarta keeps rising, bringing the total to almost 30,000. On Thursday, March 11, the province detected 128 new infections.

“This makes the total number of confirmed cases to 29,636,” said Berty Murtiningsih, the spokesperson for the special region’s Covid-19 Task Force.

Berty added there was one death reported on the same day. She argued that the figure tends to be lower than the previous days as the case fatality rate reached 2.44 percent. “The total number of deaths becomes 722.”

As for the recovery trend, Berty claimed the hike was quite rapid with 295 cases, pushing the total number to 23,991. By this figure, the recovery rate hit 80.95 percent, with 4,923 active cases in the region.

She outlined that Bantul contributed the highest number of new positive cases on Thursday with 61 cases, followed by Kulon Progo Regency (45), Sleman Regency (14), Gunungkidul Regency (4), and Yogyakarta City (4).

One death case, she went on, was an elderly aged 70 years from Kulon Progo. “Based on details of the temporary history of confirmed cases, two positive cases are detected from travelers,” Berty said.
