Sriwijaya Air Investigates Missing Plane of Flight SJ182

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Management of Sriwijaya Air is investigating the whereabouts of flight SJ182 on the Jakarta-Pontianak route, which lost contact on Saturday at 14:40 WIB local time.
"Management is still communicating and investigating this matter, and will immediately issue an official statement after obtaining factual information," Sriwijaya Air's Senior Manager Corporate Communication, Theodora Erika, said in a statement here on Saturday.
The airways management remains in contact with various parties to determine more details regarding the aircraft.
"Sriwijaya Air is still in contact with various related parties to obtain more detailed information regarding the SJ182 flight serving the Jakarta-Pontianak route," she added.
The Boeing 737-500 aircraft, registered as PK CLC, lost contact at a position 11 nautical miles north of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, after passing an altitude of 11,000 feet, and while increasing its altitude to 13,000 feet.
Based on information from Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency), the plane lost contact in the area of Laki Island and Lancang Island, Seribu Islands District, Jakarta, which is not far from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport where it had just departed from.
