TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating minister of maritime affairs and investments, Luhut Pandjaitan, has officially been appointed as the maritime and fisheries ad-interim minister that was left vacant by graft-suspect Edhy Prabowo.
Edhy Prabowo - who was also Gerindra Party’s deputy chairman - was named a suspect of a lobster seeds export graft case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“Coordinating minister Luhut Pandjaitan has received an official letter from the state secretariat,” wrote the maritime affairs and investments spokesperson Jodi Mahardi in a text message on Wednesday.
The appointment of Luhut Pandjaitan, said the spokesperson, was a direct order from the President after Edhy was undergoing KPK’s questioning.
Edhy Prabowo was arrested along with the maritime and fisheries special staffs Safri, Andreu Pribadi Misata, and the Director of PT DPP Director, Suharjito. Edhy is believed to have accepted a bribe to name PT DPP as an exporter of lobster seeds.
