Jokowi Meets National Team to Accelerate COVID-19 Vaccine

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday, Sept. 9, met with members of the national COVID-19 vaccine development acceleration team at the Bogor Presidential Palace.
“The President instructed the team to work quickly, especially in terms of developing the Merah Putih vaccine seed,” said the team’s person in charge, Bambang Brodjonegoro, who is also the Minister of Research and Technology, following the meeting.
The team had been formed by Jokowi under the president’s decree No.18/2020 on the national COVID-19 vaccine development acceleration team on September 3.
Bambang explained that the meeting was attended by Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto, SOEs Minister Erick Thohir, Head of the Eijkman Institute of Molecular Biology, Amin Soebandrio, and the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) head, Penny Lukito.
“It’s important for us to develop the vaccine to strengthen the human immune system in facing COVID-19,” said Bambang.
