TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta provincial administration planned to put a face mask on the statue of General Sudirman as a campaign of the health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The statue had been first disinfected before Governor Anies Baswedan began the mask installation today, August 19.
The city’s fire and rescue agency led the sterilization process. “Yes, it has been sprayed with disinfectant for the installation of the mask this afternoon,” said the agency spokesman Saeful via a phone call today.
Saeful explained that a face mask would be put on the statue located on Jalan Sudirman, Central Jakarta, in an effort to educate the public about the health protocols against COVID-19. The governor was scheduled to directly carry out the process.
The head of the fire and rescue agency Satriadi added that his side would support the mask installation by mobilizing a fire truck, which is equipped with a ladder to reach the statue’s head.
