TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Industry Ministry’s industrial vocational program (Jalur Vokasi Industri | JARVIS) is proven to be popular as over 20,000 students registered online from April 16 - May 10 upon becoming prospective polytechnic students.
“The Industry Ministry opens an equal opportunity for high-school students through the JARVIS program as this system is able to reach and filter prospective university students across Indonesia,” said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a written statement today, Wednesday 13.
The government says JARVIS is purposed to better accommodate prospective college students through an online system that can be accessed at www.jarvis.kemenperin.go.id., especially amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Ministry claims the enthusiasm shown this year is slightly higher than that in 2019, especially compared to the independent registrations at each Indonesian polytechnic and academic communities. This year saw 20,707 registrants while 2019 saw 19,065 registrants.
Out of the 20,707 registrants, 14,085 were verified to continue the online tests and a tryout session. They came from regular high schools, vocational high schools, and madrasa Islamic schools. Later on, the government plans to only accept 3,041 to participate in the program.
