TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - GoJek has expanded one of its services GoFood, to allow customers to purchase staple needs and items. However, the online multi-service platform will be applying a quota system to prevent hoarders.
"This is not meant to accommodate hoarders but is truly meant to help customers in need. So there will be a limited number of items that can be purchased," said Chief Food Officer GoFood, Catherine Hindra Soetjahyo on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
Catherine explained that there will be a minimum order restriction, and customers will be provided with free delivery costs if an order reaches IDR 40,000.
Catherine added that GoJek, in cooperation with the Agricultural Ministry, will add the number of goods distribution points from the initial two points to six distribution points across the Greater Jakarta Area (Jabodetabek) by the end of the week.
"We will also continue to expand outside [Jabodetabek]," Catherine said.
She stated that the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) has increased the demand for daily groceries from GoJek users. Such condition drives GoFood to provide services to purchase daily needs from modern shopping outlets scattered across the Greater Jakarta area such as Alfamart, Circle K, Lawson, and Family Mart.
