TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) established a COVID-19 task force, which consisted of legislative members from across parties, said the House speaker Puan Maharani.
“The task force will help the government to accelerate the coronavirus mitigation in each region,” said Puan during the team launching on Thursday, April 9.
The task force will be helmed by the House deputy speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. According to Dasco, the team will neither use the state nor House budgets, but the members’ donation.
Dasco reiterated that the team also aimed at bridging entrepreneurs and local donors to meet the needs of hospitals and community health centers (Puskesmas) in regions.
The Gerindra politician added that his side will not receive cash assistance, but medical devices including face masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ventilators, among others. The aid will be distributed to hospitals and Puskesmas treating patients with the coronavirus infection.
The team’s website satgaslawancovid19.com, he added, will be integrated to 682 referral hospitals appointed by the central government. “This page will cut the bureaucratic chain so that aids and support can be distributed right to the target,” Dasco added.
The central government had since the onset of the coronavirus outbreak set up the COVID-19 Task Force led by the Chief of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo.
