TEMPO.COTangerang - Tangerang Regional Administration is set to produce their own cloth masks, intended for its residents, following the central government’s instruction for the mandatory usage of face masks outdoors.

Tangerang Mayor, Arief R Wismansyah, is now intensively disseminating the mandatory use of face masks to his citizens. On Monday, April 6, 2020, Arief distributed masks in the Larangan District, as the government plans to distribute at least 5000 face masks.

“Mr. Mayor disseminated the mandatory mask usage and distributed (masks) to residents in Larangan," Tangerang City Government spokesperson Buceu Gartina told Tempo, on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Buceu continued, the Mayor continues to remind regional leaders to conduct mandatory dissemination of mask usages and to direct their residents to limit activities.

The masks distributed are washable cloth masks produced by vocational training centers (BLK). In addition to masks, the vocational training centers are currently producing hazmat coveralls for medical Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs).

According to Buceu, the Tangerang City Government has greatly increased the regional budget to handle the COVID-19 outbreak, from Rp18 Billion to Rp98 billion.

The City Administration has distributed 1,607 pieces of coverall, 35,850 surgical masks, 1,330 N95 masks, 248 face shields and 316 boots and 254 glasses to hospitals and health centers.
