April 7, 2020 | 05:51 pm

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits procured by State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Ministry from Roche, Switzerland, arrived in Indonesia today, April 7. The swab test kits are said to have a higher precision level to detect the coronavirus (COVID-19) than that of rapid test kits.

"Yes, [the test kits] have arrived," SOE Ministry's special staffer Arya Sinulingga confirmed on Tuesday, April 7.

Based on information received by Tempo, the test kits include 2 units of MagNA Pure 96, 2 units of LightCycler 480, and 13 units of LightCycler 96.

Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Data and Information Center, Agus Wibowo, explained the PCR test kits from Switzerland can carry out up to 10,000 tests per day. Meanwhile, one device can be used for 500 tests daily.

"We plan to distribute the test kits to 12 provinces," Agus added.
