TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The condition of a toddler in Yogyakarta that was declared positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) is reportedly getting better. The 3-year old has been placed in Dr. Sardjito General Hospital’s isolation room since March 9.
“The lab test on the toddler that was conducted yesterday afternoon turned out negative,” said the spokeswoman for Yogyakarta administration’s coronavirus pandemic mitigation, Berty Murtiningsih, today.
Despite already testing negative, the toddler currently remains under isolation with the parents as they must undergo a period of monitoring before being discharged.
“The hospital will issue a statement about whether the toddler is already allowed to return home, which includes information regarding the toddler’s status,” she said.
Moreover, Yogyakarta’s coronavirus pandemic mitigation team is still waiting for the lab tests on the toddler’s parents which will be known this afternoon.
Previously reported, Dr. Sardjito General Hospital spokesman Banu Hermawan said the toddler was initially referred from the Muhammadiyah Hospital in Yogyakarta to Dr. Sardjito on Monday, March 9. The toddler and the parents previously traveled to Depok before coming home with symptoms such as fever and coughing.
