TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani balked at commenting on the Supreme Court's ruling that annulled the Presidential Regulation No. 75/2019 on the premium hike of the Health Social Security (BPJS Kesehatan). She was only smiling when asked about the verdict.
Sri, who also serves as the head of the Islamic Economy Expert Association (IAEI), attended the meeting with Vice President Ma’ruf Amin at the VP’s office earlier today, March 12. During the press conference, she only responded to questions in light of economic sharia and its instruments.
When reporters questioned her about the court’s verdict, Sri was silent and smiling while heading to her car. “Thank you,” Sri Mulyani said shortly before the car's door was closed.
Earlier reported, the Supreme Court noted that Article 34 (1) and (2) of Presidential Regulation No. 79/2010 on the BPJS premium hike had no binding legal and contracted a number of laws. By means, the increase in the insurance premium for independent participants is not valid.
Therefore, the prevailing BPJS premium is as stipulated in the Presidential Regulation No. 82/2018. For details, Rp25,500 for Class III, Rp51,000 for Class II, and Rp80,000 for Class I.
However, the cancelation of the premium hike has not taken into effect to date. The state insurer BPJS Kesehatan ensured that the valid premium was based on the Presidential Regulation No. 75/2019.
