California Man Arrested for Smuggling Brownies with Marijuana

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Jakarta Metro Police arrested a man from the United States for allegedly smuggling brownies containing marijuana. The man, CCB, was apprehended in an apartment in Bintaro on Monday, January 20.
South Jakarta Metro Police chief, Sr. Comr. Bastoni Purnamasaid that CCB's arrest began after police received community reports of drug dealings in the apartment.
"We came to the scene and found CCB, who is an American citizen," Bastoni said on Thursday, January 23.
In the apartment, the police found brownies containing marijuana, weighing a kilogram. To the police, CCB said he brought the brownies from his hometown in California.
"The lab test results also showed that the brownie had marijuana in it," Bastoni said.
The police also found e-cigarette liquid solutions containing marijuana, dried marijuana leaves and flowers, among others.
Bastoni said that CCB arrived in Indonesia on a tourist visa on January 17. The man is an employee of a psychiatric center in California who had traveled to Indonesia four to five times before.
The 27-year-old is now facing up to five years in prison.
