Slipi Building Collapse; Police Question Jakarta Officials

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police investigators have taken the statements of 12 witnesses in the building collapse incident in Slipi, West Jakarta, January 6. A number of city officials were also asked for statements about the incident.
Earlier, police questioned 10 witnesses, including Alfamart minimarket employees located on the ground floor of the building. The police also took statements from people who were injured by the incident, as well as building owners.
More recently, the police questioned two new witnesses; the head of West Jakarta Cipta Kaya, Spatial Planning and Land Services Unit, and an official from the West Jakarta Tax Office.
"We will ask [them] about administration and everything," Jakarta Metro Police's PR chief, Sr. Comr. Pol. Yusri Yunus had said January 9.
When met yesterday, Yusri declined to give details about the official; statements, information about the results of the examination to the two public officials.
"We will wait for the results," he said here, January 14.
Eleven people were injured when a four-story store building collapsed on Monday morning, January 6. A number of cars in the parking lot were also damaged by debris. Fortunately, no lives were lost.
