TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Provincial Government of Jakarta is allocating a budget of Rp1.05 trillion to build and revitalization sidewalks this year. The money will be used to pay for the installation of 97 kilometers of sidewalks in the capital city this year.
Head of Jakarta's public works or Binamarga department, Hari Nugroho, said that this year's sidewalks construction program includes those categorized as regular activities and regional strategic activities.
"The sidewalk construction is carried out by the Jakarta Binamarga Office and the Office Units of each region," Hari told Tempo on Wednesday, January 15.
He said that building sidewalks with the 'complete street' concept, with a width of more than five meters, is part of the regional strategic activities. The wide pavements will be located on Jalan K.H. Mansyur, Pramuka, Casablanca, Dr. Satrio, M.T. Haryono and Gatot Subroto.
Last year, he said, the Jakarta government had built 67 kilometers of sidewalks with a budget of Rp375 billion.
