TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Traffic flow on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat bound for Istana Merdeka is smooth and orderly, despite the protest held by online ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers. The protesters are part of the Ojol Nusantara Bergerak organization.

"For now, the roads are normal and orderly," Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters' chief Sr. Comr. Heru Novianto told Tempo Wednesday, January 15.

Antara reported that at the half before noon the Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat was briefly closed off by the police when the 500 protesters were marching there. Once they arrived, the police reopened the road.

In addition to Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, roads that may be affected by the protests, with possibilities of being closed temporarily, are Veterans I, Veteran II, and Veteran III.

The drivers from Ojol Nusantara Bergerak group started marching in groups starting from the Jakarta City Hall towards the Ministry of Transportation building at around 13:00 to continue their protest.
