Jokowi Instructs Ministers to Salvage Jiwasraya Client Funds

  • TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresidential spokesman Fadjroel Rachman announced President Jokowi’s order to recover as many funds to reduce the losses the government would endure due to the Jiwasraya corruption scandal. 

    Fadjroel also said the president ordered the State-owned Enterprises Minister and Finance Minister to consider taking calculated measures on saving client funds. 

    “The president’s order to the SOE Minister and Finance Minister is to greatly consider taking calculated steps in saving client funds,” said Fadjroel in a written statement today.

    Moreover, Fadjroel expressed his appreciation to the Attorney General’s Office for naming and arresting five suspects involved in the Jiwasraya state-insurance corruption. 

    “This indiscriminate law enforcement corresponds to President Joko Widodo’s political principle of law. The Republic of Indonesia is a lawful state,” said the spokesman. 

    Previously reported, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) on Tuesday officially named five individuals as suspects in the case of corruption and irresponsible investments within the state-owned insurer Asuransi Jiwasraya. 

    The suspects are Hanson International President Director Benny Tjokrosaputro, former Asuransi Jiwasraya financial director Hary Prasetyo, Trada Alam Minera president commissioner Heru Hidayat, Jiwasraya’s head of investments and finance Syahmirwan, and Jiwasraya former president director Hendrisman Rahim.
