TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo explained the reasons behind his decision in appointing five members of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Supervisory Board, who have been inaugurated on December 20, 2019.
The President stated that members of the supervisory board that is led by Tumpak Hatorangan are good people.
"They are good people who have the capability, integrity, capacity in matters relating to law," Jokowi said after the inauguration, adding that he deliberately chose the members from different backgrounds.
The five members are Tumpak who is a former prosecutor and KPK chairman; Harjono, a chairman of the DKPP and former justice of the Constitutional Court; Syamsuddin Harris, a researcher at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI); Albertina Ho, the deputy head of the High Court; and Artidjo who is known as one of respectable Supreme Court judges.
"I think it is a very good combination so the board will be able to control and supervise KPK commissioners," the President added.
Jokowi believed that the members could adapt and cooperate with the new commissioners of the anti-graft body who are also inaugurated on December 20, 2019.
