New Year's Eve; MRT Jakarta Operational Hours Extended

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta announced it will extend its train operational hours up to 2.5 hours during the New Year’s Eve 2020. The president director William Sabandar said Ratangga will cater to passengers up to 02:30 a.m. of Wednesday, January 1.
“Our regular operational hour is until 12 a.m. But during the new year, it will be extended to serve passengers celebrating the new year’s eve,” said William at his office, Thursday, December 19.
William said his side will also set 24 additional train trips. “So in the new year, there will be 309 trips.”
The headway pattern, William added, will be the same as usual: 5-minute headway at peak hours and 10-minute headway outside the peak hours. During the extended hours, it will be 12 minutes.
According to William, the extended operational hour is set considering the city administration held several year-end events in Jenderal Sudirman-Thamrin areas. “We will facilitate visitors’ trip,” he added.
William went on to say that MRT Jakarta will heighten its security during the new year celebration in coordination with the Indonesian Military (TNI), police, Public Orders Agency, and Transportation Department in a bid to maintain passengers’ safety.
