Rudiantara Reportedly to Serve as PLN CEO

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Minister of Communication and Technology Information Rudiantara, reportedly, would serve as President Director of state electricity company PLN, replacing the company's acting director Sripeni Inten Cahyani, according to Tempo's sources.

Meanwhile, PLN Vice President Public Relations Dwi Suryo Abdullah said that his office has yet to receive the news. "No, I haven't heard about it," he told Tempo via a text message Saturday, Nov. 23, declining to give a further statement regarding Rudiantara's appointment as CEO.

Based on Tempo's sources, Rudiantara will be accompanied by Darmawan Prasodjo, who is currently serving as the company's commissioner board of member, as the deputy director.

Rudiantara did not deny or confirm the information when contacted by Tempo on Friday, Nov. 22. He instead asked if it was probably a mere rumor.

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir recently declared that he is currently evaluating five SOEs, namely PLN, Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), Bank Mandiri, Inalum, and Pertamina.

The evaluation saw that the ministry would fill the vacancies in the entities. A structural overhaul was also one of the agendas of the evaluation.

Erick said to journalists on Friday that he had set Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok as Chief of Commissioner of state oil and gas company Pertamina.

The minister also appointed former anti-graft commissioner Chandra Hamzah as BTN Chief of Commissioner, while Pahala N. Mansury would serve as BTN CEO.

The five SOEs plan to soon hold a general meeting of shareholders.
