TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In a national coordination meeting with regional heads at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo reminded the meeting’s attendees to avert from law enforcement and put forth preventive measures.
“In this event, I would like to remind people that if there are legal issues that are able to be detected early, use preventive measures, remind them first. Don’t wait until it happened and then....,” said the president in Bogor on Wednesday, November 13.
As Jokowi deliberately did not complete his sentence but was able to spark reactions from attendees that agree with the president’s call.
He also maintained that hard law enforcement must not continue either in the level of District Courts, high prosecutor’s office, or police precincts. President Joko Widodo then called for a harmonious relationship between state apparatuses.
“The harmonious relationship heavily affects the level of tension,” he said.
The national coordination meeting is attended by 2,693 participants that consist of governors, mayors, national and regional police law enforcers, up to district court judges.
