TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The House of Representatives (DPR) will soon carry out a fit and proper test for National Police chief candidate Comr. Gen. Idham Azis.

“A plenary meeting is set to be held tomorrow. It will appoint Commission III to conduct a fit and proper test for the National Police chief candidate,” said House deputy speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the Senayan parliamentary complex on Monday.

President Jokowi has named Idham to succeed General Tito Karnavian, who has been tapped as the country’s Home Affairs Minister. The president’s letter regarding Idham's appointment was sent to the DPR on Wednesday, October 23.

If things proceed without a hitch, according to Dasco, Idham Azis will be able to undergo his fit and proper test soon. The Gerindra politician added there had been no rejection from any party pertaining to Idham's candidacy.

“I cannot represent all of the lawmakers, but I personally see Pak Idham can fulfill the requirements to become a police chief,” said Dasco.
