TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In conjunction with the commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day on October 28 or "Sumpah Pemuda", the Alliance of Independent Journalists' (AJI) Jakarta chapter will join the students' rally in Central Jakarta.

The long march is set to commence at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout (Bundaran HI) to the President’s Merdeka Palace in the vicinity of the National Monument.

AJI secretary Afwan Purwanto announced that the alliance would walk side-by-side with the rally’s participants, which comprised university students and laborers under the movement #reformasidikorupsi or corrupted reform.

The rally is an apparent response to the newly-ratified Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Law and the planned ratification of the criminal code draft bill (RKUHP).

“Just like on the last May Day, we will join the long march,” said Afwan when Tempo reached him on Monday, October 28.
