  • TEMPO.CO, Bandung Bandung administration announced it booked the regional revenue (PAD) at almost Rp700 billion per year from the tourism sector. The total number of visitors to the region amounted to seven million a year.

Bandung City secretary Ema Sumarna said that the government determined to boost the sector, including by improving the quality and quantity of the infrastructure and creating new attractions.

“So we must develop the service for tourists, such as by expediting the infrastructure construction,” said Ema on Monday, September 30.

Ema admitted that many tourists complained about the traffic. “We are continuously striving to improve the infrastructure. We have held the groundbreaking ceremony of two flyover projects on Jalan Jakarta and Jalan Laswi. In 2022, we also plan to construct more flyovers,” he said.

The city tourism and culture agency head Dewi Kaniasari said that tourism awareness is the duty of all the city's people.

“That is a campaign to increase tourism awareness to the public because tourism does not only belong to the government. That must be supported by the people, too,” said Dewi.

The campaign was aimed at encouraging all residents to support the city as a friendly tourist destination. Groups of tourism activists and industry entrepreneurs involved in the movement.

"We already have an action plan to create Bandung as a tourist-friendly city. This involves all the city's stakeholders and working units," Dewi concluded.
